HAND TOUCHES SAW.

FINGER AND THUMB SEVERED. A painful accident befel Mr. H. W. Lindsey, proprietor of the * joinery factory, Putaruru, on Thursday afternoon. His left hand came into contact with the circular saw of the wood-working machine, with the result that the first finger was severed at the middle joint, and the thumb was so badly lacerated that it, too, had later to be amputated. The injuries were dresed by Dr. Haslett, on whose order Mr. Lindsey was then taken to the Waikato hospital.

This is the second accident of such a nature that has oecured at this machine, the previous victim being Mr. G. A. Howland.
