pected. In fact, everything- points to a successful year. AT THE BUTTER FACTORY. The latest installation at the Hinuera butter factory is an Anderson No. 1 butter-pounder of a 1501 b capacity. This will turn out one pound pats in a manner quicker and more satisfactory than the old hand process. It should, therefore, prove a decided acquisition.
HALL AFFAIRS. A meeting- of the Hinuera residents, convened by Mr. G. Conder, one of the trustees, to discuss matters affecting the Hinuera Public Hall was held last Friday evening. There were originally three trustees appointed to control the affairs of the hall, namely, Messrs. E. G. Brown, G. Conder and the late Mr. W. R. Clarke. The purport of the meeting was, inter alia, to set up a residents’ committee to as- j sist the trustees in liquidating the j debt on the hall. The following- com- I mittee was accordingly set up: Messrs. C. Brown, P. Hawke, H. Kneebone, C. Murray, W. Oates, H. Settle and D. Mclsaac (hon. secretary). This committee will have, as its first duty, the task of raising funds to wipe out the debt of £2OO which at present still remains on the hall. For such purpose it is proposed to hold a bazaar early in the New Year. It is understood that once the hall is free from liability a start will be made with enlarging the same. A new scale of charges for tne use of the hall was drafted and adopted by the meeting. ANNUAL TENNIS MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hinuera Tennis Club was held this week. The chairman, Mr. W. Settle, in the course of his opening remarks, outlined last year’s events and stated that the season had been a most successful one. A balance-sheet was submitted showing the finances of the club to be in a very healthy condition. The election of officers was then proceeded with and resulted as follows:—President, Mr. C. Pond; chairman, Mr. D. Mclsaac; secretary, Mr. W. Oates; treasurer, Mr. F. I-I. Germann; committee, Mesdames F. H. Germann and H. Settle, Miss Z. Bell, Messrs. W. Brown, C. Murray and F. H. Wade. It was decided that the following matters be left to the executive to deal with during the coming season: (1) Construction of pavilion; (2), improvement of courts; (3), procurement of equipment, nets, etc. The season is to open at an early date, and a greatly increased membership is ex-
