WEDDING BELLS.
THORPE ROSSITER. A popular wedding took place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Putaruru, on Wednesday afternoon of last week, when Miss Ethel Rose .Rossiter, elder daughter of IVTr. and Mrs. W. Rossiter, of Waotu, was married to Mr. Roy Thorpe, of Waotu, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thorpe, of Otahuhu. The vicar, the Rev. W. E. Connolly, was the officiating minister, and the bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a becoming navy blue costume with grey hat and grey silk veil to match, and carried a beautiful boquet of spring flowers. The bridesmaid, Miss Edna Stephenson, of Ham- , ilton, wore a navy blue costume with a grey velvet hat and carried a boquet of violets. The bridegroom had as his best man Mr. Frank Woolliams, of Te Whetu. The ceremony took place late in the afternoon, and was followed by the wedding breakfast at the Oxford Hotel, Tirau. In the evening a social was held in honour of the occasion, friends from near and far, including parties from Mangatapu (Selwyn) and Putaruru, assembled as the guests of Mr. and ] Mrs. Rossiter at their residence, Waotu. Here a jovial time was spent, Mr. T. Lukin acting as M.C. and members of the company, including the Melody Four Orchestra, providing a programme of vocal and instrumental music, recitations, etc. At suppertime, with musical honours, the health of the bride and bridegroom who, to the delight of the company, attended for a short while, was toasted with particular enthusiasm, as was also the health of the host and hostess.
