ELECTRIC POWER WORKS.

IN THAMES VALLEY. Reports of Progress. Reports of the progress of works in the Thames Valley Electric Power Board’s area presented to Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board by the manager (Mr. R. Sprague) and engineers (Messrs. Gauvain and McLeod) are as follows: MANAGER’S REPORT. “ As per your instructions, notices were inserted in all the papers circulating* in the board’s area notifying consumers that they would be prosecuted without notice for interfering with their installations.

“ I regret to advise that the Louis Theriault with poles from Newcast* •has not yet arrived at Kopu, this boat having left Raymond Terrace on August 12. The 35ft poles are urgently required for Waihi, Tahuna and Canal road, Waitakaruru. The arrival of the boat is expected daily. “ Arrangements for supply of poles by steamer to Auckland have been made for the following* roads: Wardville road, Weeks’ road, Te Papa, Puketurua, Okoroire (Hinuera Valley). These poles should be delivered within one month. “ Order of reticulation work authorised: A special report has been prepared by the engineer and manager showing the- work in hand and the order of starting the balance of the lines authorised. “Mangateparu: The reticulation of the back road on the settlement is well in hand; about two miles of pol£ line has been erected and one mile of high tension and and a-half miles of Tow tension wiring completed. “ Numerous service lines, fed from our existing mains, have been erected in the Waitoa area during the past month. At the Waitoa dried milk factory one 400 K.V.A. transformer has been installed, replacing one of 300 K.V.A. capacity. This- latter transformer is being transferred to the Waharoa factory to deal with the increased load which is now being obtained there. “ Owing to the increased demand for power and light in many districts it has been found necessary to provide transformers of larger capacity and some have already been installed at Mangateparu, Motumaoho, Maungakawa road, Waitoa and Springdale.

“ Matamata Area: The first section of the 11,000 volt main line on Scherer’s road is being supplied from Casey’s transformer and was made alive on the 25th inst. This transformer also supplied an extension along the Walton-Peria road, the wiring of which has been completed during the month. The second section of Scherer’s road is well in hand, and the high tension wiring nearly finished. The transformer structure and the low tension extension remain tc be done but the section should be ready for service within the next few days. “ Hutchinson’s road: The second section was completed and made alive on the 19th inst. One transformer has been erected and also supplies an extension along the Cambridge road. “ Mortensen’s road, Kiwitahi: Poles have been carted out on this road and pole fitting and erecting commenced on the 22nd inst. In this area it has been found necessary to increase the transformer capacity to allow for extra land which is now coming on the board’s main lines.”
