TWO NEW SCHOOLS,

ARAPUNI AND MANGATAPU. Contracts for two new schools in the Putaruru district have recently been let, one to be at Arapuni and the other at Mangatapu. The Arapuni school will be situated on the school reserve in the Arapuni village, and timber is now beingcarted from Putaruru for the job, which has been secured by an Auckland builder. The building* will accommodate, when completed, some 40 to 60 scholars, but for the duration of: the Arapuni contracts extra temporary accommodation will probably be necessary. The Mangatapu school will be about the same size as the Arapuni school and stands on the site of five acres donated by the Selwyn Timber Co., this area being on the west side of the company’s tramway at the entrance to the Mangatapu village. The framework of the building* is already erected.
