A LICHFIELD OCCASION.

SOCIAL TO MISS M. PEPPEUILL. On the occasion of her approaching marriage a social to Miss M. Pepperil 1 was given by her brothers, Messrs. Harry and Dick Pepperill, on Friday, at the Lichfield school. It was open to all friends in the district and all were there. Besides dancing, singing, etc., an orig-inal competition entitled “ The Floral Wedding ” composed by Miss McCarroll, proved most interesting. Mr. Sneddon recited, Mrs. Ranger sang, and two little girls (Misses Lowe and Empson) sang a song together which was much enjoyed by all. Altogether the occasion proved a very jolly one. A A kitchen tea was given on Saturday afternoon by Mrs. All wood at ■*- her residence, “ Hillcresit,” Lichfield, for Miss Pepperill, and was attended by a large gathering of friends for six or eight miles round, about 40 people in all. Very* varied and valuable gifts in the form of kitchen equipment, practically nothing being omitted, and some beautiful linen and cutlery being included, testified to the popularity of Miss Pepperill, and expressed the visitors* best wishes for her future happiness. The guests sat on Uie large sun verandah and were entertained by music and refreshments. Miss Kells, on behalf of Mrs. All wood, expressed the best wishes of the hostess and those present for the bride-elect, and Mr. Pepperill replied on behalf of his daughter.
