STOCK SALES.

PUTARURU. Dalgety and Co. held a stock sale in the Putaruru yards on Friday. There was a fairly fnll yarding of cattle and sheep, and the attendance was well up to the average. Business was fairly well maintained, except for yearling and 18-months-old cattle. Fat cows sold from £2 10s lo £4 19s, store cows £1 10s to £2 15s, dairy cows £4 to £6; cull cows £! 10s to £3 ss, calves 15s. Eighteenmonth steers were passed in at £2 10s and 18-months heifers at £2 15s. Fat ewes brought up to 25s 9d, and forward wethers up to 245. MR. R. J. MAISEY’S HERD. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company conducted a clearing sale of Mr. R. J. Maisey’s herd at Turanga-o-moana en Thursday. Owing to numerous farmers being away there were not a iarge number of buyers present but prices for sound animals were uniform at from about £0 to £9. The average for 86 cows, mostly Shorthorns, was brought down to £5 10s by a number of backward and imperfect cows. Among the purchasers of the best price cows were Messrs. W. H. Mathers (Hunga.hunga), A. McDonald (Okauia), Dunlop, Barugh Bros. (Matamata), P. Harper (Walton), Doyle (Matamata), Bartleet Bros. (Walton) and F. W. Wright (Waharoa).

The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received the following coble from its London office, dated June 6, 1924, advising- the Smith-field delivered prices at that date as follow: — New Zealand Wethers and Maid ens.—Canterbury quality, selectee, brands: 561 b and under, 7Jd pel pound; 57/641b, 7d per pound; 65) 721 b, Old per pound. Other brands: 561 b and under, 7d per pound; 57/ 641 b, 6gd per pound; G5/721b, 6iM per pound. New Zealand Ewes.—64lb and under, s.id per pound. New Zealand Lamb.—Canterburj quality: 361 b and under, lid pel pound; 37/421b, lid per pound, 43/501b, lOidi per pound; seconds 10hd per pound. Selected: 361 b anc under, llid per pound; 37/421b, llit. per pound. Other brands, first quality: 421 b and under, 10-U1 per pound; seconds, lOd per pound. New Zealand Beef.—Ox fores, 3d per pound; ox liindls, 5d per pound; cow fores, 23d per pound; cow hinds, 4.id per pound.

Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores, 33d per pound; ox hinds, 6id per pound. Argentine Frozen Beef.—Ox fores, 3ld per pound; ox hinds, sid per pound.
