A MATAMATA PURCHASE.

WHOLE JERSEY HERD. Mr. Matt. Shaw, of Matamata, has purchased all of a well-known Frankton breeder’s (Mr. R. Chilcott’s) pedigree Jerseys. These include 13 females and the bull Burford Hailstone. The pedigrees include the great butter-fat producing strains of Campanile Sultan, Grannie’s Girl, Majesty’s Fox and Twilish. Mr. H. E. B. Watson, the Jersey judge and demonstrator, visited the herd when in Matamata recently, and made favourable comment on it; in fact, made a good offer for one of the cows for transportation to Christchurch. The ocer was refused. Mr. Shaw has now 20 pedigree Jersey cows, at the head of which is Almadale Frisky, a bull bred by W. H. Miers, of Rukuhia.
