STOCK SALES.

MORRINSVILLE. The prices at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s stock sale un Thursday were much below those ruling at recent Morrinsville sales. There was only a medium yarding, except of young- cattle, which were present in large numbers and for which bidding was by no means keen, some of the calves being passed in at very low figures. There were very few fat steers and none were sold. Perhaps the reason for the poor prices was that the sale came immediately before the holidays and that most of the outside buyers were absent, and the uneasiness concerning the railway strike. The following are the prices:—Beef: Prime fat cows, £6 10s to £7 7s 6d; fat cows, £3 18s to £4 7s; heavy fat heifers, £6 17s 6d; fresh-conditioned cows, £2 10s to £3 3s; store cows, £1 to £1 10s; 32-year to 4-year steers, £4 10s to £4 19s; 18-months heifers in calf, £2 17s to £3 11s; empty heifers, £1 10s to £2 4s; heifer calves, 12s to £1 2s; small calves, 8s to 10s; steer calves, 17s; heavy bulls, £4; others, £1 15s to £2 10s. Dairy stock: Cows, £8 5s to £l6 10s; others, £3 5s to £5 ss; heifers in milk, £5 5s to £7 ss. Sheep: Fat ewes, 23s to 24s 3d; fat lambs, 24s Id to 25s sd; store ewes, 19s 6d; cull ewes, 13s 3d.
