PATCH TRIMMINGS.
For girls * dresses, a novel idea is the patch-trimming. This is made of interlaced ribbon, and the patches are disposed about a dross in various place*, or are set in a regular line, at intervals apart ,above the hem of the skirt. After interlacing the ribbon, tho ends are sometimes allowed to fly out and ar« not fastened down to the material. Another patch is made of scalloped ribbon, having a draw-string along the straight edge. By pulling flic string the ribbon may be gathered, and turned into circles, or flower-shapes, etc., amt thus create all sorts of pretty effects.
