RUGBY FOOTBALL.
PUTARURU UNION. Draw For First Round. The chairman, Mr. J. Barr Brown, presided at last week’s meeting of the management committee of the Putaruru Rugby Union, at which there was a good attendance of members. Advice was received that a club had been formed at Puketurua, Mr. Treanor writing as secretary of the club to this effect and applying for affiliation. He submitted a list of 25 players for registration and stated that Mr. Ray Brown would be the club’s appointee on the management committee. The affiliation was granted.
It was reported that the Te Whetu club could not apparently now put forward a team for the coming season’s competition. The daw for the first round of the competition was then made, and after lengthy effort was concluded and adopted as follows: May 3. —Rovers v. Waotu, at Putaruru; Selwyn v. Puketprua, at Putaruru; United v. Tokoroa, at Tokoroa. May 10.—Puketurua v. United, at Puketurua; Selwyn v. Waotu, at Putaruru; Rovers v. Tokoroa, at Putaruru. May 17.—Tokoroa v. Waotxi, at Tokoroa; United v. Selwyn, at Putaruru; Puketurua v. Rovers, at Putaruru. May 24.—Puketurua v. Waotu, at Puketurua; Tokoroa v. Selwyn, at Putaruru; United v. Rovers, at Putaruru. May 31.—United v. - Waotu, at Waotu; Tokoroa v. Puketurua, at Tokoroa; Selwyn v. Rovers, at Putaruru.
