MORRINSVILLE TO FIJI. Mr. J. Hart, of Tatuanui, recently effected the sale of a pedigree Friesian bull to the Fiji Pastoral Company. This bull, Fayne Ditcher Dutchman 11., secured the North Island championship at the Waikato show at Hamilton in November and left Auckland for Fiji last week. The Fiji Pastoral Company is evidently going in for extensive operations. It is getting 6000 acres ready for settlement and has purchased about 70 head of grade and pedigree Friesians in New Zealand for transportation to its headquarters. TREATMENT FOR MAMMITIS. For the trouble which was recently experienced throughout the district as a result if the autumn rains and the flush of feed successful treatment is being given by a farmer at Mangateparu, who states that he drenches the cows with lib "of salts and later gives a drench composed of a tablespoonful of bicarbonate of soda and a teaspoonful of nitre.
