STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., held its usual sale at Matamata on Wednesday. There was only a moderate yarding and bidding* was not particularly brisk. Prices were:—Cattle: Fat cows £3 10s to £4 7s, store cows £1 5s to £2 10s. There was no inquiry for weaner calves. Sheep: Cull lambs 10s 6d, smaller sorts 8s 2d. Pigs: Porkers £2 ss, slips £1 5s to £1 12s 6d, smaller 18s to 20s, wcaners 15s to 17s Cd. CLAUDELANDS. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering* Co.’s stock sale in the Claud elands yards on Thursday there was a good yarding of beef and store cattle, while pigs and sheep were scarce. Best fat steers to £9 10s, light medium £6 14s to £7, heavy fat cows, £4 10s to £5 Is, medium £3 to £4, fresh-conditioned cows £2 to £2 15s, stores £1 to 30s, Jersey-cross heifer calves 15s to 16s, small well-bred Shorthorn steer calves 15s. Good fat wethers made up to 31s 6d, medium fat ewes £l. Pigs: Heavy baconers -to £4 4s, good porkers to light baconers £2 12s to £2 19s, light porkers £2 5s to £2 7s, weaners 8s to 13s. WESTFIELD. At the Westfield sale on Wednesday there was a heavy yarding of beef, for which there was a steady demand, and little alteration was noticed in the values. The prices for sheep were slightly easier. Lambs sold readily. The values for pigs remained firm.
