“ Back to the horses again seems to bo the only remedy for the local bodies,” remarked Mr. J. P. Bailey, chairman of the Waikato County Council at a recent meeting, when referring to the trouble they were having with a steam tractor. Councillors agreed that a mechanic was required to take charge of the tractor, but with the high wage that such a man would require it would be much better to get a good team of horses.
