Twenty-eight applications were received by the Tauranga County Council for the position of engineer, which has been rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. J. R. Page. These applications were considered by the County Council recently, and Mr. A. A Woodward was appointed to the position. Mr. Woodward is at present assistant engineer to the Piako County Council. He* had previously been assistant engineer to tho Whakatane County Council and was also acting engineer for a considerable time. Before joining* the Whakatane county staff he had many years’ ex perience in private, practice, and .surveying and reading Government and private estates both in New Zealand and in South AFrica. Mi*. Woodward is to take up hi*- duties next week.
