SPAYING DULL COWS.
• MORRINKYILLE MOVEMENT | Three Deaths Reported. Since the Morrinsvilio branch of the Farmers’ Union decided to forward a scheme for spaying* cull cows so as to permanently remove the “ robbers ” from the herds a number i of the dairy farmers in the district | have had their culls treated. For a | short time the operations wore carj ried on successfully but recently some ; of the cows which have been operated I upon have contracted sickness, vcsultj mg* in three deaths. Many -of the | cows have shown no ill-effects, but iin some cases the cows became I sick, went off their milk and would not eat, and in one case the cow has not come back into milk. During* the sickness the cows give off an unpleasant odour. The cause of the sickness and deaths is not known, but it is maintained that if the animals continue to show ill-effects after treatment it would be- better to postpone the scheme until the cause of trouble is ascertained.
