MOKAI.
A POPULAR HEADMISTRESS. Prior to the “ break-up ” of the Mokai school for the Christmas holidays the local residents arranged a farewell to the popular headteacher, Miss Louch, who, after six years of very hard work in charge of the school, has received twelve months’ leave of absence and intends visiting* her relatives in America and the Old Country. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent, vocal items being rendered by the school children, Miss H. M. Chalmers, and Messrs. J. H. Taylor and J. Tonga. On behalf of the pupils, Miss Jean Clark presented Miss Louch with a camera, and on behalf of the residents Mr. Taylor handed to her a solid leather suit case. Afternoon Lea was provided by the ladies, and was thoroughly enjoyed bv all present. THE HOLIDAYS. M..kai presents a very quiet appearance at present, the mills beiny; closed down for the Christmas holidays, TENNIS. i Tennis is now in full swing on the j local courts, and good form is shown by many of the players. 1
