ANGLICAN BAZAAR.

FUR I2R UNNER OF CHRISTMAS. The Church pf England Ladies’ Guild held their fourth annual bazaar in the Town Hall on Friday. The standard of previous years was well maintained, and, if .anything, improved on, a tremendous amount of work having been done to make the occasion attractive. The interior of the .hall was gaily decorated, and fully occupied by the stalls and the refreshment alcoves, and from 11 a.m., when the vicar, the Rev. W. E. Connolly, opened the function, until 10 p.m., brisk business was the order of the occasion, the attendance beinglarge. the various departments were conducted as follows: Sewing- stall, Mesdames Halse, Bear and Pearse; produce stall, Mesdames Scott and Robinson; flower stall, Mrs. Sayers and Miss Ashford; ice cream buffet, Misses McKcown and Tomalin; sweets stall, Mesdames Leggatt and Barnes; strawberries and cream, Mrs. BanBrown, Mrs. Dimond, Miss McKinnon; afternoon tea, Mrs. J. Martin, Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Palmer, and helpers; Christmas tree, Mesdames Brown, Dukeson and Harwood. Competitions were won as follows: Weight guessing-, Christmas cakes, Mrs. Dukeson, Rev. Sciimgeonr, J. Brown and “ Paddy ”; number guessing, Mrs. Leggatt, Mrs. Tomalin, Mrs. Howland, Miss E. Rolfe, Miss Hardy; doll’s names, Miss Hardy and Mr. A. Brown; nail driving, ladies, Miss M. Rolfe; nail-driving-, men, Mr. E Rolfe. Pianoforte selections were played during the afternoon by Miss Ashford and orchestral selections in the evening by Miss Sayers (piano), Messrs. H. and R. Sayers (violins), and Mr. H. Pearse (cornet). The occasion was capped by dancing, which was particularly epjoyed bv the younger folk, and for which Mesdames Barnes and Aspden provided the music. A waltzing competition, tor a prize specially donated by Mrs. k. McLeod, was held, and i( was won by Miss Aspden and Mr Hamlin. The total proceeds from the bazaar amounted to about £llO.
