j REPORTS OF PROGRESS. | By Manager and Engineer. Reports of the progress of the works in iho Thames Valley Electric Power Board's district were? tabled at Tuesday’s meeting* of the board. Tt was stated by the manager that 95 consumers were connected during* the past month. The consumers to date are 2311, which includes 738 milkingmotors. This does not include other motors or Thames or To Aroha boroughs. it is anticipated that a further 25 2-h.p. milking* motors will be connected during* December. Ninetyfive consumers were connected during* the month of November. MANAGER’S REPORT. The manager, Mr. R. Sprague, reported as follows: 1 Troublcmcn.—lt will be necessary to consider the revision of troublemcn in the Matamata district owing to the big* connected load in that area. I , have gone into this with Mr. Wrigley , and recommend that a further troubleman be appointed at Matamata. • The position would then be that a i man would be stationed at Waharoa . and would control Waharoa, Walton, Wag-horn and Alexandra roads. This arrangement should meet all demands in the Matamata district. y Cars.—The foreman’s car at Mata- ■ mata is now being* repaired and will : be converted into a. half-ton truck. 5 Increased Flat Rate Charges.—The : notification as required by the Public Works Department’s regulations with regard to the 50 per cent, increase in the fiat rate lighting charges have been sent to all the consumers in the area. These charges will operate from January 1, 1924. Power Boards’ Association.—During* the month the chairman went to 1 Wellington to attend an executive meeting of the Power Boards* Association, and the report of the business transacted at the meeting* is in the general correspondence. It will be necessary to confirm the chairman’s action. Poles. —The Louis Theriault arrived at lvopu on the 26th ult., after a passage of 17 days. All the poles will be discharged from the boat at the end of the week. ENGINEERS’ REPORT. The engineers, Messrs. Gauvain and McLeod, reported as follows: Tauhei District.—The line along Scott’s road on the Mangateparu settlement was completed about the middle of the month and is now in service. Further low-tension extensions have been made at Tauhei towards the confiscation boundary. Motumaoho.—The high-tension line to Motumaoho was made alive on November 16 and a supply to the cheese factory commenced. In addition to connecting up the main LI,OOO/3300-volt transformer at Morrinsville for the supply to this line distribution transformers have been connected up opposite the Motumaoho factory and at two other positions on the route. Kereone.—Wiring of this section was commenced on November 19. Scott’s Road, Morrinsville-Motu-maoho Section.—The wiring of this line was commenced on November 26. High-tension Telephone Line.—The wiring of the high-tension telephone line from Te Aroha to Morrinsville is in hand and work has been completed as far as Tatuanui. Okauia.—This 3800-volt line, together with low-tension extension from end of same, is now completed and made alive. An additional transformer, together with the necessary control gear, has been erected and was livened up on the 21st inst. Tirau - Waiomo 0300 - volt Line.— I Pole erecting* and high-tension wiring is now completed for a distance of about six miles. The work on tin* low-tension wiring and service lines is proceeding*. Davis’ Road.—Pole erection on this 3300-volt branch line commenced on the 27th inst. Transformer Stations.—Owing to the large increase of load in certain of the country districts, due chiefly to the connecting rip of new milkingmachine motors, it has been found necessary to make alterations at certain of the transformer stations by increasing the capacity of same. The transformers which have been replaced are being erected in other portions of the area which are now being connected up.
