OKOROIRE SPRINGS.

TENNIS CLUB. The annual meeting of the Okoroire Tennis Club was held recently. Mr. E. Somerville, the president of the club, was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members and : ntending members present.. The chairman congratulated the club in its successful season, and said that the coming one should prove an even better one than its predecessor. A tribute was paid to the generosity of Mr. J Chalmers in allowing the use of the excellent and beautifullysituated courts. It was anticipated that the coming season would sec further additions and improvements made fo the grounds, and they would prove not only a great asset to the club, but to the district generally. The following officers were then elected; Patron, Mr. !R. Glynn Lewis; president, Mr. E. Somerville; vicepresidents, Captain Newton, Messrs. 11. Bennett, J. Chalmers, F. Rose and S. Townsend; committee, Mesdames P. Dee and G. Gubb, Miss Howard, Messrs. S. Anderson, E. Gubb, E. Hap' woVl and E. Warren. Secretary and treasurer, Mr. E. J . Brown. OPENING OF COURTS. On Saturday afternoon, the tennis courts v ere officially opened. In the absence of the president (Mr. E. Somerville), the patron of the club (Mr. R. Glynn Lewis) carried out the ceremony. Mr. Lewis said it gave him great pleasure to have come all the way from Hamilton to assist in the opening of the Olcoroirc courts. He wished the club a most successful season and 'stated that he was prepared to give a trophy to be awarded to the most improved player. Mr. Lewis then called upon Mrs. E. Browne to play the first hall of the season. There were a large number of visitors present from Matamata, Tirau and other clubs of the district, and so ne most enjoyable games were played. Afternoon tea, served by the lady members, was greatly appreciated.
