THE XTJ TARURU CLUB. Successful Season. The Putaruru Golf Club’s second season is now concluding, and an auspicious season it has proved. The members total 00 or so, many of whom owe their introduction to the game to this club, and the enthusiasm has been general and consistent throughout. The links, comprising a nine-hole course on Mr. W. Yandle’s property, on the Overdale road, about half-a-mile from the town and duly equipped with pavilion, etc., have been maintained in very satisfactory order, and, altogether( golf has come into high favour here. In the men’s division the senior championship for the season was won by A. Barcroft after a very close contest. The final in the first place resulted in the contestants, Barcroft and H. Robinson, being all square at the 18th hole, necessitating the playing of a further IS hole round, which resulted in a win for the former by the narrow margin of a single stroke. The men’s junior championship was won by W. Rodgers, with Frank Tomalin as ft.innel'-up. The monthly medal winners were Messrs. A. Barcroft. C. D. Brown (2). E. F. Ruthei ford, H. Robinson and R. E. Brown. A further competition among these players, as medal winners, was held some days ago for a gold medal, and H. Robinson proved the winnei. The ladies’ senior championship was won by Mrs. J. Rutherford, with Mrs. Robinson as runner-up, while the ladies’ junior championship was won by Mrs. E. NickUn, with Mrs. H. Pearse as runner-up. The further prize list tor the season is as follows:—Ladies: Monthly medal winners, Miss J. Toma in (2), Mrs. Nicktin, Miss Lochhead, Hag match, Miss Lochhead; stroke competition Mrs. R. E. Brown; single-club competition, Mrs. Rutherford; eclectic Mrs. Robinson- second flag match, Miss Tomalin; second stroke competition, Miss Lochhead; third stioke competition, Mrs. Murphy; fouith stroke competition, - Mrs. Robinson. Men’s, division: Flag match, HfourSomes, A. Barcroft and W-E. Drown) ihixed foursomes, A. Bancroft ‘.and. Migs Lochhead; single club competition, C. D. Blown; eclectic, A. Bareroft; bogey handicap, C. E. Hollai-d; second flag match, MHenderson; consolation handicap, Tomalin. N . . „ Final returns have yet to come toi one or two further competitions. Bogey for the 18 holes Comprising Ihe double round of the links is 76 strokes, and the nearest approach to this was 84 strokes by H. Robinson. In inter-club play matches took place against Tirau and Rocky Downs (Matamata), hut Putaruru club could not manage to register a win against either. A tic between Mrs. 3. Rutherford and Miss Tomalin for a monthly medal was played oil and Mrs. Rutherford proved the winner. At the same time all the laxly monthly medal winners competed for a gold -medal, which was also won by Mrs. Rutherford. Mixed foursomes were won by A. Barcroft and Mrs. Nicklin, a' ladies’ driving competition bv Mrs. Robinson, and a mens driving competition by -I. Murphy. luither awards in the ladies’ division are:—Approach, and putting, Mrs. -Rutherford; putting, Mrs. Alcorn.
