This mission will be conducted by Rev. Father McDermott, one ofthe Redemptorist Fathers. Although the Mission is intended for members of the Catholic Church non-Catholics will be welcome.

In the meantime the ladies are getting as much practice as they can.
Farewell Social—TheHavelockfriends of Rev. W. B. Scott and Mrs Scott have arranged a social in their honour, which will take place at the Schoolroom this evening, commencing at 7.30. A very good programme has been drawn up, and as Mr Scott has been a useful public man as well as a popular Minister thoro ought to be a good attendance of all denominations. Mr W. H. Smith will preside.
Notices to Trespassers,—Mr A. A. Harris, of Woodlands, Pelorus Sound, notifies that any person or persons found trespassing on section 4, Block XII., French Pass Survey District, will be prosecuted ; also, that the owners of all cattle trespassing on the same country, known as " Woodlands," will be charged grazing fees from the date of the notice. It was reported that the Committee have in hand about £23.
Shipping.—The Manaroa had a calm trip across from Wellington. She left at 6. 15 on Wednesday evening and arrived at Havelock at 7.30 a.m. on Friday. A Busy Steamer.—Few of the colony's coasting craft can boast of such a record of work during the past twelve months as can the Manaroa, which is so capably commanded by Captain Allman. During that time the vessel made 89 trips out of Wellington, covering a distance of 21,907 knots (nearly the distance round the world, 24,000 knots). Her coal consumption was 637 tons, and her average speed 7-1 knots. She was under steam for 3059 hours, at anchor 160 G hours, in Wellington 2976 hours, in Motueka 1008 hours, and in Havelock 259 hours, Many very rough trips across the Straits have been experienced, and it has been no uncommon experience for Captain Allman to be on deck for 24 hours at a stretch; on one occasion he was continuously on duty for 42 hours. " Going down to the sea in ships" is not all cake and wine, but the masters of the coasting craft take it all " by and large."
Rifle Club Meeting —The meeting of the Rifle Club was very well attended, and as a result the Club's position was placed on a very firm basis. Mr E. H. Smith consented to retain for a time the Secretaryship of the Club, and he was thanked for his past efforts, Thanks to the courtesy of Mr W. H. Smith, J.P., thirteen members were " sworn-in '' at the meeting, Arrangements were completed for the extension of the butts, and Mr Reade is to be asked to construct the targets; when these are passed by an officer of the Defence Department the date of the official opening will be fixed and announced. It was decided that members be recommended to purchase Martini-Henri rifles in preference to magazine rifles, but that those who wish to use the latter kind will be free to do so, It was also decided that the targets be of the revolving variety. Members and intending members are requested to get their papers from the Secretary and to get "sworn-in" as soon as possible, as some fine trophies will be shot for during the next few months,
