HONEYMOON IN A GOAL MINE.
* STRANGE PLACE IN WHICH TO BEGIN MARRIED LIFE,; * Mr, and Mrs. Mel Spence, of Wilkesborre, Pennsylvania, chose perhaps the strangest place in the world to spend their honeymoon, through an effort to spend it—in accordance with the bride’s wish—where never before any married couple had lived.
They spent 3 weeks underground—--I,looft. below the level of the surrounding country—or rather below the level of the pit mouth—in an unused working of one of the great anthracite mines, wandering hand in hand through the labyrinth of passages, and keeping,as far as possible from the workers.
\et, despite the strangeness of the place, Mr. and Mrs. Spence being connected with the company and a friend of most of the big men, who, when they heard the odd plan of the young couple, furnished 'a diningroom, a kitchen, and a bedroom, ran electric wires into the working, and lighted the model cottage.
