LATE WIRES.

ADDINGTON STOCK MAUKKI' Christchurch, Last Nig’ ’• At the Addington live stock market to-day, though the yarding of stock was good it was not up to that of the previous week, with the exception of cattle, but prices generally were unchanged. Fat lambs were yarded in fairly largo numbers, but the quality was not as good as in the previous week, though they were up to late rates. Freezers brought 12s to 16s 6d, heavy weights to IBs 9d, light and inferior 10s Gd to 12s 6d. Fat Sheep, - The yarding of fat sheep was somewhat smaller than at last week’s sale, and was composed of a quantity of unfinished sorts, for ■ which slightly lower prices were obtained, but good quality sheep fetched late rates. The range of prices was—Prime wethers IBs Bd to 225, extra heavy to 25s Gd, lighter 1-ls 7d to IBs Gd, wethers and maiden ewes 17s lid to 235, prime ewes 16s to 20s, extra good to 21s, light and unfinished 2ls to 25s Gd. Fat Cattle I —-287 head of cattle wore yarded, a slight increase on last week’s entry. Prime ,steers brought £G 15s to £lO 2s 6J, extra up to £ll ss—equal to 20s to 21s per 1001 b; heifers £1 15s to £0 10s, cows 15s to £7 2s Gd. Calve ; , 4s lo £2. Store Cattle.—There was a small entry of store cattle, and the sale was dull. Yearlings brought from 15 * to 18s Gd, 21 to 3-yoar-old heifers £3 to £3 7s Gd, 2-year-old steers 3os to £3 ss. Dairy cows, up to £9. Fatal Shooting 1 Accident. Christchurch, Last Night. A fatal gun accident took place at Cheviot on Sunday. Mr Thomas Dalgety, aged twenty-three years, son of Mr Widiam Ddgety, of McMillan Road, Cheviot, Ut his father’s house, with a gun, at eleven o’clock, and was never seen agiin alive. Search parties were out all night, and the body was discovered not more than a m ; le and a half from the house. It was evident, from the position in which the body was found, that the deceased had jumped a small creek and his gun had gone off, killing him instantly. The back part of Ins skull was blown off.
Importation of Labourers. Dnnedin, Last Night. In view of the scarcity of skilled aud unskilled labour there is every possibility of an officer of the Labour Department being despatched to England to select, during the next twelve months, labouring men of the class required who are willing to emigrate.
