in the museum at Capetown is .shown an old-fashioned, high-backed wooden chair, to which attaches a wiord story. It is said that the chair is the one in which a certain Dutch governor was found sitting' dead a few moments after the execution of a soldier whom he sentenced to be hanged, and who, on his doom being pronounced, solemnly called upon his condeinner to accompany him to the Throne ©i the .Supreme.
