Pelorus Road Board.
The usanl monthly meeting of the above Board was helicon Wednesday. Present; Messrs Davies (in the Chair), Duncan, Dillon, Inman, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence having been read, ieHers werfrfead frora I; the Colonial Secretary stating that 1 the bylaws passed by the Board had been received and were gazetted on Septetn - her 25th, from Mr Turner rt alteration of name on rate roll, from Mr Haslett solicitor,re claim on bonusfor discovery of tint gold field, from Picton Hospital, and C. -A. It was also resolved, That as the; {adoption of the Impounding Act bad' mot been sufficient to k-ep the roads | iclear of cattle, that proceedings should be takm uoltjir trie PubliQ Work* Act
against the owners of all horses and cattle trespassing on the roads. 'lt was resolved, That Mr Charles Tee b« authorised and empowered to take action; on behalf of the - Board under the Public Works Act 1882, and Amendment Act 1884, against all persons allowing their horses or cattle to be on the public road. It wad resolved, That the above resolution apply to the main roads from the Pelorus Bridge to the gravel-pit North Bank of the Wairau River, and frond Mahakipawa wharf to the Grove. That Mr Tee receive half of the penalties recovered, but no action be taken till the expiration of 14 days.
The balance-sheet for the year ending March 3.lst, 1890, was received from the Auditor-General, endorsed as having been audited and found correct.
Complaints having been made to the ! Board that Mrs McLean kept a gate locked across the by-road near her house, the secretary was instructed to inform Mrs McLean that the Board could only allow her to place a gate on the road on the condition that it was not locked or fastened in any way which prevented the, public using the road. Mr Logan attended the Board re making road to the machine site at; Waikakaho. After tsorae conversation it was resolved, That the sum of £2O be voted towards making the road up the Waikakaho Valley, the work to be done by day labour, under the superintendence of Mr Dillon. Five tenders were received for,track to Waikakaho, one of which, was informal, as no deposit was included. It was resolved not to accept any tender, 1 but to call.for fresh tenders, and to make a deviation in the track. Tenders to be in on Tuesday, October 14th. After passing accounts the Board adjourned.
