Southern Cross Company.

We are glad to hear the Southern Cross Gold Mining Company are making such good progress in their claim at the Wakakaho. The tunnel is now in nearly 200 feet, and they anticipate striking the reef when they have driven jgbfteO feet farther in. The prosobtained have been so good that the Company undertook _ this heavy piece of work without hesitation, and they anticipate striking good gold when they open out the main body of stone, our old Mend, Mr John Newth, who is in charge of the mine, speaks most highly of the country they are passing through, and we all hope the plucky efforts of this persevering Company will meet with its due reward.
