PARLIAMENTARY.
A No-Confidence Motion. WELLINGTON. July 1. In the House this afternoon Mr Ballance gave notice to move on going into Committee of Supply, that in the opinion of this House the continuance of the Primage Duty is unnecessary, and a distinct breach of the understanding arrived at when it was first imposed ; secondly, that further retrenchment is imperatively demanded, and that be effected without impairing the efficiency of the Public Service ; thirdly, that the retention of the property tax in its present form, and the land policy pursued by the Government alike impede the progress of the colony. The Government have accepted Mr Ballance’s motion as a direct challenge, and the House has adjourned till this evening.
