Sculling Championship.
O’Connor again Defeated. SYDNEY, . June 30, The sculling match between Stansbury and O’Connor for £SOO a-side, took place over the Parramatta course to-day ,and resulted in Stansbury again proving victorious. The weather was fine for the race. The betting was 3to 1 against the latter. Stansbury gave his opponent the choice of position, and for a short time the Canadian held a lead of a length to a length and a half. Stansbury, however, rowed a waiting race and as soon as he spurted he easily, caught his opponent, and from the mile post won as he liked. He came in eight lengths ahead. Time, 22rains. 59 secs. O’Connor appeared to be considerably distressed before the race was half over. July 1. O’Connor admits that he has been beaten fairly and squarely by a better man, and has announced his intention of retiring from professional rowing.
