The Specific should be applied to Apples, Pears, .Plums, Currants, Quick Hedges, and all trees having Oodlin Moth, Scaly or American nlight during the winter months (from May Ist to September 15th) The P.-itent Specific is a thorough cure for the Leech that attacks Pears, Plums, berries and Quick Hedges in the month of January, During the past year the manuf mturer has nude numerous experiments with the Codlin Moth, and has obtained most salisf ctory results. The Maggot, which is secreted in crevices of the bark during the winter season, is mainly destroyed by the winter dressing, but it will be found necessary to spr y the young fruit early in November, this being the ime that the moth deposits its ova by so doing toe crop of fruit will bo secured. For this dressing mix the same as for Leech. In placing before the public this most valuable preparation for the destruction of the various blights that infests gardens, the manufacturer and patentee begs to state that he has Den a practical fruit grow-r for 26 years in New Zealand, and is therefore intimately acquainted with the various pests thatma-e horticulture pursuits so unsatisfactory, having tried nearly all the remedies extant with very poor results, until discovering in Juy 1885 the Patent Specific, and having for the last four years m -da numerous experiments with complete success. The Specific is cheap and easy of applicaca ion. The largest of fruit trees can be thoroughly dressed at a cost of one shilling each including labour. NOTICE* PATENT NON-POISONOUS
DIRECTIONS FOR USE. Winter Dressing.—To one gallon of the Specific add ten gallons of clear water. Whi e mixing run the Specific through a fine strainer so that the syringe may not choke while using, (ily attending to tnis all delay will be obviated.) Spray the tree until i.ll the parts ro thoroughly saturated. In a few days all blight will be found quite dead. Winte months, bests time to apply, from May Ist to September 13th. For Cherries, Plums, Pears, Quick Hedges, or any Tree attacked by the Leech.—Mix one gallon of the Specific with twenty-one gallons of c ear water. Spray as above. One dressing will generally sutbee for the for the season. A hydropult will be found more expeditious than an ordinary garden syringe, Two days before planting spring crops the g ouud should be sprayed with the Specific, i y so doing ill sings and other pests will be destroyed. For this mix one gallon of the Specific with twenty-five gallons of water. In dressing for American Blignts great care should be taken to break the white woolly covering, it being quite impervious to wate , but under which lies the insect, The effect when the aoove is attended to will be found magical.
