Our Supplement.
The great success which has attended the Guardian since its first issue has warranted the directors in meeting the liberal support accorded to it throughout Marlborough, Nelson, and elsewhere by still further enhancing its value to the general reader by the issue of a twenty-eight column supple-ment-one of the largest and best supplements issued with any paper in the Colony. We feel satisfied that this additional expense will be met by a still more liberal support, and the enterprise thus shown will not only be fully appreciated by our subscribers, but that ere long the Guardian will be a welcome visitor in every household throughout the length and breadth of this and other districts, and will therefore be one of the best mediums for advertising. The supplement will be issued on the 27th of this month, and after that will be continued every week. As we will have only a limited number after supplying our present SaPSCrIDerS It WOuHbc wall for in tending patrons to send in their names as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made for extra supplies.
A number of settlers in this district have informed us that they heard rumbling noises with vibrations of the earth on Saturday morning last, similar to those experienced at the time of the Tarawera eruption. There is no doubt there must have been some volcanic disturbance, as settlers twenty miles apart had the same experience. Messrs Mason, Hemi & Co. advertise that they are prepared to supply firewood at prices which will be found enumerated in another column.
