PUBLIC MEETING.

A meeting of the above was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening, and a fair number were present. Mr 0. H. Mills, occupied the chair, and explained the object of the meeting was to adopt or amend the rules drawn up at a previous meeting. Some discussion took place : on the first rule being read, when Mr Nelson explained, a scheme which seemed to meet with the general approval of those present, namely, that an association be formed with 200,000 shares at 1/- each, and that all those contributing would be acknowledged as shareholders to the amount of their contributions in any company formed. The expenses of forming a company.first would be too expensive, and he thought it would-be best to find gold first, and the amount named would enable them to prospect the district thoroughly. Mr Reynolds then proposed, That the present rules be excised, and the following substituted—namely, that it is desirable to form a prospecting association of 200,000 shares at 1/instead of a contributing association.

The resolution was carried unanimously. Mr Reynolds then proposed, and Mr Davis seconded, That Messrs .Nelson, Hill, Hart, Mills, Venimore, Crighton, H. Smith, E. Beere, A. W. Dillon, Thrush, Hayward, Oliver, and the mover be a provisional committee to draw up the proposed prospectus of the Marlborough Mineral Prospecting Assciation. Carried.

Mr Staite proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Venimore for his: services as honorary secretary to the association. Mr Nelson proposed, and Mr Faulkner seconded. That the amounts at present contributed towards the Pelorus Prospecting Association with any others be acknowledged to their full amount in scrip when it is issued, and the committee be empowered to order the necessary printed receipt books.

Resolved, That the committee meet at Mr Mills' office to-morrow, Wednesday, evening. : A vote of thanks to the chair brought the meetin? to a close.
