OUR BEAUTIFUL SCENERY

Opinions of Travellers. The scenery of our beautiful sounds and valleys only require to be known to be appreciated, and every day this statement is becoming a greater truism. When the Governor, Lord Onslow, visited Havelock he said the visit was one of peculiar interest and pleasure, and he hoped to renew his acquaintance ere long; The Hon. T. Fergus, Minister for Mines, when passing through the Pelorus Valley , said it was the most English-like.veiws, and one of the most beautiful pictures he had ever seen in the colony. Then we have Sir Thomas Mcllwraith, ex-Premier of Queensland, and Colonel Sargood and party, who passed through ' thb * district in the wellequipped mail coach belonging to the Messrs Newman Bros., and they all. said it was delightful. Next we had Dr Guthrie and his wife, who went from Blenheim to Picton, chartered one of Captain Fisk’s smart little steamers, went down Queen Charlotte’s.. Sound, thence to the Pelorus Sound, and, landing at Havelock, drove through the Rai to Nelson, and he told Mr Newman that hundreds would have the same run round if they knew with what facility it could be managed, and daring the past week six other tourists from Australia .drove; from- Blenheim to Nelson in the moil -coach, each one adding their testimony to those who had gone before, and there is no doubt that next summer we shall have many more tourists through this part of the colony, which has been formed so prettily by nature.
