THE PELORUS ROAD BOARD.
A me ting of the above Board was held ou Wednesday last. Present:— M “ssrs Bi’"Wiilee (m tiie chair),:D ivies, Dillon, Duncan, Dooms, and Inman. Toe outward correspondence having, h :eu read a deputation from the settlers in Lne WAkamarina waited on the Buaid to request to request them not to enforce ut preset tne bye-laws refiling to the trespass of pigs and.goats on ttie road. The Cnairmau informed the (lepiUiit on that taieir request saould be eonsi lered as soon as tne bye-laws had been confirmed, and that it was not inten led to '•utorc tnose bye-laws outside the present impounding district, Tne deputation than thanked the B urd aod withdrew. Mr W. 3. Cullen waited on tine Board re road, through th i towus'oip. It wa- decided that the road tirongh the township should be repaired instead of the low r road. No satisfactory oad rs having been received for the wo'k at Mahakipawa the matter was left in the hands of the Inspector. The Sectary reported as to the present, position of exchange of Trespass Road question, and tiie matter was left in his hands to get settled as quiqkly and satisfactorily as possible. Mr John Cameron junior attended the Board re dit'h alongside and through his land. Toe Inspector was ordered to visit it and report to the B »ard at its nexts meeting. Mr Cnas. Inman was authorised to arrange with Miq McDmald as to injury done ■ to her fence through the Board falling tree* wheih were dangerous to the road, The Secretary was instructed to obtain paV> ment from Mr Jacques for flax cut off the road at Eu ipaka. It was also resolved—l. That the Secretary make further'application to the Minister of Mines to see it he will grant £ for £ for making roads to Mahakipawa Goldfields. 2. That the work required near Sutton’s at North Bank, Wairau, be left iu the bauds of Mr Davies and the Inspector. 3. That tenders be called for clearing scrub at Deep Creek. 4. That as March is the end of the financial year ail rates must be paid during the next fourteen days. The accounts for wages, <feo., were then passed and the Board adjourned. A special general meeting qf the Board was then held for the purpose qf confirming the proposed bye-laws regulating the management of slaughterhouses and yards and the trespassing of goats and pigs on the public roads. On the motion of the Chairman the bye laws were unanimously confirmed.
