THE GOLDFIELDS.
The past weak has been a profitable one at Mahakipawa. Several claims have done well, especially the Te Ore Ore, Lyford’s, an i the Hibernian, the latter got about SOozs. They are on cram eight to ten feet of wash dirt, and on Thursday from two loads washed loozs.
Johnson and party, on the flat, are floating their claim into a company on what should prove satisfactory terms to themselves.
We {Post) understand that the Mahakipawa, Waikakaho, Kaipai, Lucky Hit, and Jubilee claims on the Mahakipawa goldfield have bean acquired from the present proprietors by an English company, with a subscribed capital of £12,000. The original proprietors retain an equal interest. Immediate steps are to be taken to erect a large battery, and construct a wire tramway from the reefs, which have already been developed to a considerable extent, a large quantity of auriferous stone being at grass. It is expected that crushing operations will com nence about July. Greig’s pirty got Idoss. Tne Golden Bar continues to im.orove.
