Sporting Notes.
It is well to re nind owie a ag in th t the acceptances for the Havelock Cup, Pelorus Stakes, and handicap hurdles must be in the Secretary's hands by 8 p.m tomorrow. Saturday. Also that tenders for all the privileges close at the same hour.
The forthcoming meeting of the Pelorus Jockey Cub , romises to be vci y succea ful. The course in being attended to, and the stewards intent making a special effort to eater for the comfoit of visitors,
The Bijou Band has been engaged and will give se[l]ections during the day, and in the evening the[r]e will be a Race Ball [a]t the Town Hall, thu music being supplied by he Bijou String Band. A gathering in excess of the large crowd which assembled on New Year's night,i. expected, I should strongly advise after the forthcoming meetings that the stewards of the Pelorus and Mahakipawa clubs should hold a conference, with a view to amalgamation. The club would then be a powerful one. Meetings could be held twice a year at auiuhle ia e vals, coild be held at Mahakipawa and Kaituna alternately, the cost of management would be reduced, and a more amicable feeWg iii roiig matters than now exists
