The Government have granted to the Cook County Council, under the Roads and Bridges Act, Lr,600 for the Arai Bridge; Lt,ooo for the Turanganui Bridge; L 720 for road works. The Council at its next meeting on the Bth of January will have to determine the works on which this last sum will be expended. Of the other application 30 per cent of the amount applied for has been granted. With reference to the L 720 a delay of a few weeks must necessarily occur, as, after the Council has made its choice of works, a poll oi the ratepayers must be taken, and the works approved of by the Public Works Department.
