3. Hurdle Race Handicap, of 80 sovs; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stakes. Distance, 2 miles. Nomination of 2 sovs on 22nd December. Weights will be declared on Tuesday, 6th January, 1885. Acceptance, with 8 sovs., on Tuesday, 13th January, 1885. Start at 2.45 p.m,
4. Handicap Hack Hurdle Race, of 15 sovs. For all hacks that have not been trained for this and the Waerenga-a-hika meeting. Distance, 1 mile. . Entrance, 1 sov, before 1 p.m. on day of racing. Start at 3.80 p.m. 5. Tradesmen’s Handicap, of 150 sovs. ; second horse to receive 25 sovs. from the stakes. Distance, 1| miles. Nomination of 3 sovs. on the 22nd of December. Weights will be declared on Tuesday, 6th January, 1885. Acceptance, with 5 sovs., on Tuesday, 18th January, 1885. Start nt 4.15 p.m. 6. Hack Race, of 10 sovs. For all hacks only that have never been entered for public money other than a list. up. Post entrance, 1 sov. 1 mile.
SECOND DAY. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21»t. Start at 12 o’clock. 1. Publican’s Purse Handicap, of 100 sovs ; second horse to receive 20 sovs stakes; distance, miles. of 2 sovs on 22nd December. will be declared on night of first day’s racing, acceptance, with 4 sovs, at that time. Start at 12.45 p.m. 2. County Stakes Handicap, of 40 bovs ; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stakes; for all horses bred in the County of Cook ; winner of Maiden Plate to carry 71bs extra ; distance 1| miles. Nomination of 1 sov oh 22nd December; weights will be declared on Tuesday, 6th January, 1885; acceptance, with 2 sovs, on Tuesday, 13th January, 1885. Start at 2 p.m. 3. Selling Race, of 30 sovs. The winner to be sold immediatly after the race for 40 sovs; if entered to be sold for 30 sovs, allowed 71bs; if for 20 sovs, allowed 141bs; if for 10 sovs, 21lbs. Weight for age. One mile. Entrance, 2 sovs, 1 Stirt af 2,25. 4. Turanga Stakes Handicap, of 250 bovb ; second horse to receive 50 sovs out of stakes ; distance 2 miles, Nomination of 4 sovs on the 22nd December. Weights will be declared on Tuesday,6th January. Acceptance, with 6 bovb, on Tuesday, 13th January. Start at 3.80. p.m. 5. Handicap Hack Race of 15 bovs ; diri -nee 1 mile; entrance 1 sov; entries to close before 4 30 p.m. on first day’s racing. For all hacks that have not been trained for this and Waerenga-a-hika meeting. Start at 4.15 p.m. 6. Forced Handicap of 25 bovs. ; post ontrance of 2 sovs. each. Compulsory for winners; losers and hacks optional. Distance, 1 mile and a distance.
RULES AND REGULATIONS. No entry will bo received for any race except upon the condition that all claims, disputes, and objections arising shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint; and their decision upon all points snail ba final.
All protests must be accompanied with a deposit of 5 sovs. which sum shall be forfeited to the funds if the protest is not sustained.
All nominations, entries, acceptances, etc., accompanied by the necessary amount, must be addressed to the Secretary, and left at the Masonic Hotel, Gisborne, not later than 8 p.m. on the several specified datas. Any owner failing to declare his color at time of entry, will be fined 2 sovs. Any jockey riding in colors excepting those entered will be fined 2 sovs. All horses must be ridden in colors, any jockey infringing this rule will be fined 2 sovs. General entry night, Tuesday, 18th January, 1885.
The rules and weights of the Poverty Bay Turf Club, as in force at the date of the meeting, will be strictly adhered to. Five per cent, will be deducted from the gross amount of all stakes. Horses walking over will receive 50 per cent of the stakes. The winner of any race of the value of 100 sovs and over, after the declaration of weights, to carry Bibs extra; and the winner of any race of 200 sovs and over to carry 7lbs extra in the Tradesmen’s and Turanga Stakes Handicap. Nominations of 1 sov. for mares on or before 31st July, 18.83; final payment of 1 sov. on 31st July, 1885. Sweepstakes of 5 sovs. at th.; post, to go to the second horse. Distance, 6 furlongs.
