[Own Correspondent.] Wellington, December 8. Waring Taylor surrendered to his bail on Saturday at the Magistrate’s Court, and was remanded till to-morrow. Government have had under consideration the question of quarantining all vessels from New South Wales with a view of preventing the introduction of small-pox, but have abstained from doing so in view of the precautions taken by the Union Company. Government have been advised by the health authorities in Sydney that every endeavor in being made there to stamp out the disease, und that the localities where new cases are reported are at once quarantined. The whole of the men arrested in connection' with the illicit distillation of whisky have been released, the claims of the Crown, amountii g to £BOO, having been satisfied. A twelve hours walking match on Satur day, between Crufts and Pettengal was won by Crofts by nine miles. He covered a distance of 67 miles.
