INTERPROVINCIAL.

[Per United Press Association.] Dunedin, December fl. A deputation from the City Council waited on the Premier yesterday in reference to the insertion of a clause in the Public Works Act validating Mr. Sidey’s claim for compensation. The Premier said the clause was inserted because there were a number of cases it would meet, and after hearing all that had been said on the subject he would support such a clause, if brought again before Parliament, It would be a most immoral proceeding if the Corporation was allowed to take advantage of a mere technical defect in a man’s notice of claim, and then pay him what they pleased.
