Auckland News. [Own Correspondent.] Auckland, December 4. A party of experienced shearers from the Waikato left by the Omaha yesterday for the Chatham Islands, to replace the shearers on strike there. It is understood to be Mr. Mitchelson’s intention to retire from public life. For some vears it is stated Major Atkinson has urged Mr. Mitchelson to reconsider his decesion, but without avail. Mr. Mitchelson will probably not resign for some months yet.
