MEETING OF CREDITORS.

r A meeting of creditors in the estate of Mr. • T. E. R. Bloomfield was held this morning 1 for the purpose of discussing the position of 1 affairs generally in the bankrupt’s estate. ■ There were present Messrs. Adair, Matthews, Smith, Townley, Ratcliffe, Boylan, Dufaur ’ and Hamlin. The Assignee—This meeting is called in 1 consequence of a requisition from certain of 1 the creditors in order to discuss the affairs of Mr. Bloomfield’s estate. Mr. Adair—l would like to know whether 1 any further assets have been brought to light? The Assignee—There are a few, Mr. Adair—Of any consequence ? The Assigne—l suppose they will fetch £BO or £4O. This includes a quarter cask of sherry. Mr. Dufaur—What is the total amount of the unsecured creditors? The Assignee—About £7OOO. Mr. Smith—Did not a certain amount have to be paid for wages ? The Assignee—Yes; between £4OO and £5OO have been paid away in wages and rent. Mr. Smith—Perhaps you can give us a rough idea of the proceeds that you have obtained, and an equally rough one of how they have been disposed of ? The Assignee—l have received about £550 and have paid away about £490. Of course there are the cos’s of the estate to come out of that. I have also sold his jewellery, getting £l5O for it; and took bills for the amount. I sold them to Mr. Cohen, of Auckland, and tried to get more but the offers only amounted to about £95. Certain jewellery that the debtor’s wife used to wear which cost £175, 1 cnuld not get an effer of even £25. Mr. understood that for some good reason this meeting would be adjourned unt»’ Saturday. The Assignee—l think it would be advisable to adjourn until Saturday or Monday. Mr. Matthews—l think then we should adjourn at once. I understand that an important telegram has come down from Auckland which can then be considered. I will propose that the meeting adjourn until Tuesday next at 11 o’clock. Mr. Ratcliffe seconded.—Carried. Mr. Boylan—Before you gentlemen retire I* wish to say a few words. When this business was young I was requested by the creditors to go up to Auckland with Mr. Bloomfield, and I think it is now time to mention it so that you will know, and not be taken by surprise at any future time when the question will come up. The journey up there cost me—certainly not very much—but a sum of money as expenses which I now expect to be paid, esnrcially considering I went up for the benefit of'the creditors, and assisted to arrange matters to a certain extent, although not quite satisfactorily, therefore I don’t see why 1 should be personally out of pocket. Mr. Dufaur—Haw do you propose that it should be liquidated. Mr. Boylan—Out of the estate, or on the reditors as it was don * to benefit them. Mr. Townley— We have not received much benefit vet. Mr. Dufaur—T lat’s romintr. Mr. Boylan—l am just in the same poution as yourselves. Mr. Matthews—l have n > doubt we will tavorably consider Mr. Boylan’s claim at some future time. The other creditors concurred and the meeting then adjourned.
