[Per United Press Association,] Napier, November 21. During Dr. Grabham’s stay here he will visit the quarantine station, and satisfy himself as to its suitability for a lunatic asylum. If his report upon it is favorable orders will be at once given to make the necessary alterations, a sum of money having been put on the estimates for that purpose. The Agricultural and Pastoral Association have asked the Governor to perform the ceremony of opening the new ground on the second day of the show. Wanganui, November 21. At a meeting of merchants and storekeepers yesterday, it was resolved to grant the petition of employees for a half-holiday, provided all the employers, not present agreed, and that the shops be closed at 2 o’clock on Saturdays. Some consider Thursday the most suitable day, especially grocers, and an effort will be made to close on that day. ________
