CRICKET— MATAWHERO V. PATUTAHI.
On Saturday a cricket match between elevens of the above clubs came oft at Patutahi in Mr. Bilham’s paddock. The day was all that could be desired. The play was, in several instances excellent, good cheer abundant, and last, but certainly worthy of first mention, the fair sex was well represented. These concomitant circumstances rendered it an auspicious and memorable occasion. Great credit is due to the hon. secretary for his exertions to make the meeting a success, and also to the several members of the Patutahi Club for the friendliness displayed. The Matawhero Club won by 10 wickets, but it is just possible on the next occasion that positions may be reversed, At the conclusion of the match both sides agreed to play out time. Appended are the scores: — Matawhero.
