CORRESPONDENCE.
We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinio n expressed by our correspondents.) “BOGUS” TELEGRAMS. TO THE EDITOR, Sir, —The day following the drawing of Robin Hood’s consultation on the Melbourne and New Zealand Cups a telegram was posted in one-of the local hotels to the effect that the said consultation had closed with 20,000 odd subscribers. On the strength of this telegram some who held winning numbers became generous, and treated their friends to refreshments liberally, but to their sorrow they afterwards found that a mistake had been made, and that the said consultation had closed with only 10,000 odd, thus reducing their prizes to one half. Now Sir as sweeps, and those connected with them, should be, like Creser’s wife, above suspicion, it is to be hoped the local agent will satisfy those interested.—l am &c. t Investor, Ormond, Nov. 14, 1884.
