COMMERCIAL.

We gather the following from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company’s circular, dated 6th November: — WOOL. Our latest dates from London are to 12th September, up to which date 280,277 bales had been catalogued, embracing 98,750 of New Zealand growth. The tone of the market was satisfactory; and reports from the manufacturing centres were of an encouraging nature. The final sales of the year commence on 11th inst., in which a good deal of interest is centred, in view of the near approach of local sales in the various markets of New Zealand. Auckland.—Parcels arriving at port are increasing weekly, and owing to improved reports of the Home market, prices are firm. Timaru.—A few bales of the new clip have arrived in town, and from what we can gather, the bulk will be above the average in quality and quantity. Wellington.—The clip, although light in grease, promises to be a good one. Napier.—Shearing operations are now in full swing, and wool is beginning to come in freely. As yet, however, only a few odd lots have been offered for sale. SHEEPSKINS. Dunedin.—The largest catalogue of the season has been presented this month, and good competition has been experienced, Cross-breds have remained stationary at our last quotations, whilst merinoshave advanced 6d to 9d each. Christchurch.—Since resumption of freezing operations at the Belfast Works three weeks ago, the yards have been well supplied at each weekly sale. Auckland.—There is an active demand for all skins coming forward, and last quotations are fully maintained. We quote Is 9d to 8s 3d for sheepskins, and Is 6d for lambskins. Napier.—Skins have come forward in good supply, and prices have been very satisfactory to vendors. We quote—Merinos, dry, upto 6£d ; green, to 4s 6d ; cross breds, dry, up to s&d; green, to 4s 6d; lambs, dry, 4fd; green, 7£d. Gisborne.—Skins display little alteration in value; all coming forward are readily bought at from 3s to 4s.
