Death of the Right Hon. H. Fawcett.
[reuter’s telegrams.] London, November 8. The Right Hon. Henry Fawcett, Post- , master-General of England, is suffering from a severe attack of Pneumonia. Later—Mr. Fawcett died this afternoon, aged 51. The deceased gentleman was a son of W. Fawcett Esq,, J. P., of Salisbury % He was totally deprived of sight by an accident when out shooting in September, 1858. He was an extensive contributor of articles on economic and political science to various magazines and reviews, and was in 1863 elected Professor of Political Economy in the University of Cambridge. After several unsuccessful contests ho was returned for Brighton in 1865, and was re-elected in 1868. He was unseated in 1874, but secured the constituency of Hackney in the same year. With the aid of his wife, whom he married in 1867, he has published a number of works on political economy and kindred subjects.
