[Per United Press.Association.] Dunedin, November 7. ADunedin Stock Exchange hasbeen formed, with a membership of 15; A large room in the Royal Exchange building has been secured for the purposes of an exchange, and the hours will be from 11 to 12 and 3 to 4 daily. Christchurch, October 7. Judge Johnston has ordered the discharge from custody of Patrick McCarthy, who was brought before him on a writ of habeas corpus. McCarthy had been sent to Lyttelton Gaol for detention having been charged with stabbing the captain of the American barque H. J. Libby. The Judge held that the commitment was bad, as the case had not been adjudicated upon and no proceedings for extradition had been taken. Mr. Beetham, R.M., decided yesterday that the Roman Catholic High School and the young ladies’ school at the Convent, were exempt from drainage, as they were not carried on for profit.
