Friendly Societies.—During the year 1883. there has been sixty-five Societies and branches registered under the the New Zealand Friendly Societies Act. The Manchester Unity of Oddfellows head the list with 31 Lodges. Royal Robes.—The Queen of the Sandwich Islands has a strong taste for beautiful dress fabrics, though she still wears them in the native manner, that is to say, all in one piece. One of her favorite robes is of blue velvet striped with gold; another is peach•olored, adorned with white jet; a third has a grourd of blue satin, figured with crushed roses. Her Majesty’s chassures are made of the same material.
