The Steamer Triumph.

[Own Correspondent.) Auckland, October 25. The official trial trip of the Triumph on Thursday was a great success. Over 6,000 invitations were issued. The hour fixed on the Invitation card was eleven o’clock, and at that hour all the guests had embarked on board. The steamer was gaily dressed in bunting and all the ships and local steamers in the harbor were similarly attired in sympathy with the occasion. At half-past eleven thejTriumph with the flag of Fraser & Tinne (Phcenix on yellow ground), floating proudly at the mainmast-head, steamed off from the Queen-street Wharf down the harbor, watched by a large crowd of people from the wharf. Impey’s band was on board and added much to the day’s amusement. After passing Rangitoto Reef, the course was shaped for Tiri Tiri, to enable Mr. Fraser’s guests to obtain a view of the spot from which the Triumph was successfully floated. Those on board arrived at an unanimous verdict that the Triumph was one. of the staunchest vessels that had yet visited this port. Yesterday the machinery worked well, not the slightest vibration being felt in any part of the ship. There can be little doubt but what the Triumph yesterday was turned out a ship as good as when she came from the builder’s hands, and is in a more efficient state than when she visited this port for the first time in October last. Great praise is due to Mr. Fraser for the successful manner in which he accomplished the arduous task he undertook. In ’tween decks forward luncheon was laid out, and those on board did ample justice to the good things provided. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. Wadell) presided, and the Rev. David Bruce occupied the vice chair. Numerous toasts were proposed and duly. honored. The excursion throughout went off with great eclat. The Triumph proceeded on another excursion yesterday, given by the owner (Mr. Fraser) to those who worked for him in repairing the steamship.
